Biography

Peter Gordon’s love of food began when he was very young, creating his first scrapbook cookbook aged four followed by his second a few years later which revealed Peter’s early fascination with cooking and creating. From that early start, Peter has published nine cookbooks and his later resume reads as a chronology of must eat venues, both here in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally.

Always an ambassador for New Zealand food and beverage, Peter has cooked at No. 10 Downing Street and for Jacinda Ardern and won awards for his services to promoting New Zealand food and beverage here in Aotearoa and abroad. Recognising his international culinary achievements, Queen Elizabeth II presented Peter an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit (ONZM) in 2009.

Peter has always engaged social enterprise within his businesses. In 1999 he conceived ‘Who’s Cooking Dinner?’, a still active annual culinary event for Leukaemia UK, which has raised more than NZ$15 million since its inception. He created a similar charity event, named Sky City Dining for A Difference, which has raised more than NZ$1.3m for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand.

Today, Peter is living back in Aotearoa running his latest venture in Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter called ‘Homeland’ in between his ongoing tv appearances as chef, judge or host.
